Definitely agree with this recommendation! Jellyfin is quite awesome

My issue with Kodi is that each client had to scan the library and generate thumbnails etc. That should be the server’s job which is why I chose Jellyfin. Nicer UI too and more responsive with apps in stores so I don’t have to load it manually to fire sticks
You don’t need a server rack to have fun self hosting things at home :)
In my experience the best way to find out is to spin up your own instance and play around with it! Docker makes this super easy because you can throw it away after without making any changes to your server. Searxng works pretty easily in a docker container
