I think needing a VPN to access the internal network is a good practice. And if you’re going to be used a VPN anyway, I don’t see why you wouldn’t use a “fake” TLD like .lan for internal stuff, after all it’s just simple DNS rules.

the malware has to be very advanced and specifically target your hypervisor version to escape a VM.
in the context of cracked software, it is highly improbable that you’ll find malware with this capabilities.
Both are based on the absurd concept of intellectual property. They are the same cancerous thing that is crippling technological and cultural advancement.
Edit: Seeing your comment history in the piracy community, I don’t understand why you bother commenting. It’s pretty clear that you’re a corpo buttlicker. I’m sure there are communities where youd be better received.
We have lost much having to wait for meds patents or other useful technologies.
And even in the entertainment industry we have probably lost so many masterpieces that could have been inspired by copyrighted material. Of course, that we will never know.
not exactly. You can of course still get existing works by pirating them.
But if the Tolkien works entered the public domain, anyone could use them for any creative purposes freely. And yes, a lot of the new material would be trash. But some excellent works would appear to.
A good example of this is Lovecraft’s works and the Cthulhu Mythos, that although not public domain until recent years, Lovecraft encouraged others to use his own creations on their own stories, thus expanding the literary universe of his own creation. Some stories are awful, but there has also been a ton of great works based on Lovecraft’s creations that couldn’t have existed otherwise.
not OP, but feedly is quite privacy invasive. the content you read is very valuable data, self hosting keeps your reading interests private.
Please. This would be great.
Steam is the same. It’s just a license to play the game. GOG is better in this regard.
she’s providing games for free, who cares if she’s a narcissist.
yeah this bot is annoying as hell
I’m pretty sure there’s an import option. But I’ve never used it because I have no Google account.
Use Newpipe for Android. Best YouTube experience you can get.
XMPP was there before Matrix and will be there after Matrix dies when the venture capitalists behind Element funding decide to move the money somewhere else.
Matrix is not an “open source project”. It’s a VC funded company.
every comment you make is just supporting that you shouldn’t be trying to self-host an instance. you lack all the knowledge necessary to do so.
if you’re really stubborn about it, your best bet would be paying someone with the proper knowledge to do it for you.
There are tons of them
Edit: fmhy.net is one I recommend.
This applies only to their hosted solutions, doesn’t it?
Shouldn’t be relevant for self-hosters.
apparently in some cases uTorrent, BitSpirit, and libTorrent simply write your IP address directly into the information they send to the tracker and/or to other peers
These are just bad practices by shady bittorrent programs. Choose a good client and you’ll avoid those issues.
The reason why is that Tor doesn’t support UDP and it’s just harmful for the network to do bittorrent over it.
go with Hugo + a theme Avoid WordPress, static sites have a lot of advantages.
come on, setting up your own DNS is not difficult at all. For my home network, it’s running in a Raspberry Pi, but before that I ran it locally on my desktop. There’s no way I’d spend 15$ a year to resolve internal addresses.
Sure, you have to be careful with the TLD you choose, but I believe that if the ICANN were to create the .lan TLD, it would be all over the internet first.
