Also, move ssh to a different, higher port. Since ssh isn’t exactly for noobs, changing the port is easy enough to work with and that alone already reduces port scans and what not

Most of the times -for me anyway- not only are the tools free (as in freedom) and free (as in beer) but also simply vastly superior to paid alternatives. I never get why people pay and then put up with shit, or use some SaaS platform where they are the product and get spied on and still put up with so much shit that they would be double better off by switching to something open
If it was open source then it still is. You simply clone the sources to a new project and continue
Yeah, WhatsApp is amlove hate relationship for me.
It’s seriously the best app out there, it just works, works nice and intuitive, has a web version (holy crap can’t go without) and almost everyone is on there.
I’d love a Foss federated solution, but good luck with that if no one uses it
Where do I find good trackers? Even paid ones?
Nothing wrong with digital, just the drm part that sucks
Am i the only one left who doesn’t want a snap docker Kubernetes container and just installs nextcloud in a normal way and never had any problems?
From what I’ve read the kid is a genius but also has mental issues that makes him want to perform criminal acts all the time
Interesting! Thanks, did not know that.
I’m casting using the mobile app, is there another way to cast, even?
Agreed and inknownit needs more time but it’s frustrating that I can’t yet sit down with family and watch something because it’s so unreliable
Jellyfin is awesome but…
There are still problems. The mobile app recently got loads better but still has some pretty major issues with subtitles, showing that subtitles either are barely tested, or the dev simply doesn’t have the resources required or finished the app in a better way. Right now you cannot watch two episodes of a show in a row over Chromecast with subtitles without the last subtitles of the previous show frozen in screen and the new subtitles being display above those. Gotta disconnect Chromecast, shutdown the app, restart everything. This is super annoying but still light-years better than the previous mobiel app that would basically require a reinstall after each episode.
There are many other issues too, scrubbing is much better again, but still problematic and tents to freeze, requiring restarting everything.
Jellyfin is awesome but I can’t really let my wife use it, as she doesn’t have the computer patience that I have.
a git control system
And be able to actually be held responsible for your actions? You’re crazy!
“own it” until we delete it from your account because reasons, but hey, we’ll give you a coupon!
Not fud, I personally haven’t seen any update since at least the last 5 years. If there are updates then I’ll be pissed with Ubuntu for sticking with the 5-10 year old version
You have my sympathy
Install Linux and be done with this nonsense. Why deal with this shit year after year when you can also have software that you can just use any which way you like? And yes, that now also includes gaming. Pretty much the only thing that still sucks to get working well is Adobe software and fuck Adobe too.
Edit: yes, I’ve become that guy, and I’m fucking proud of it. 20 years I’ve been on Linux thinking " why the fuck would anyone use Windows" and for 20 years I’ve read article after article how Microsoft screws over people, how their bottomline is just plain money, how they literally try to sabotage the competition, including Linux, and I’m done. Microsoft company should be burned to the ground, figuratively, let it go bankrupt
It’s lthe only one I’d use but…
It really is lacking basic functionality. Hell, o can’t even order torrents that are currently running by size or % done, which would be really helpful if it existed
Also, I don’t think it’s actively developed anymore, I haven’t seen an update in its functionality in at least 5 years, maybe even 10
It’s been a while now but I remember it happened when Plex forked over their users
Don’t use Plex they regularly screw over their users.
Go for open source, go for jellyfin, it’s awesome
The point is hoping there are enough dumb people out there willing to pay for software that is freely available after you lie some to their face.
See also anything that Microsoft produces, they are a billion dollar company with that shit somehow.
