In the early 00s I pirated a lot of music, but now I buy records and pay for streaming because it’s affordable and good.
I used to pirate software but now I just use FOSS because it’s free and good.
I used to pirate games but now I just wait for steam sales, which is cheap and good.
I used to pirate lots of movies and tv shows but then got a Netflix account and it was reasonably priced and good… until it wasn’t. Then I set up a full stack of usenet/ sonarr/ radarr/ overseer/ Jellyfin and boy oh boy is that good.
But now I have a baby and don’t watch tv anymore so I pirate pretty much nothing.

It’s an academic article database with a notorious paywall.
Anyone who wants to. I think a lot of LLM trainers access them.
There are plenty of small torrents. Use the torrent generator and tell the script how much space you have and it will give you the “best” (least seeded) torrents whose sum is the size you give it. It doesn’t have to be big, even a few GB is suitable for some smaller torrents.
For anyone wanting to contribute but on a smaller and more feasible scale, you can help distribute their database using torrents.

I think it depends on why you pirate. Are you doing it because you don’t want to pay? Then services like usenet and private trackers, where there is some expectation of payment (be it monetary or bandwidth) are probably not for you.
Do you pirate because you hate DRM and want to self host a robust media library that you can curate without fear of media being removed because of an expired license or something? Then you might be more into private trackers and Usenet. I spend almost as much on hard drives and Usenet subscriptions and PT donations as a Netflix account.
I agree. It’s one of my favourite websites. Not just for the torrents but the community is really great too. The book clubs are super neat too!
I wonder if maintainerr would do what you’re looking for.
If you’re not concerned with size you could use makemkv and remux the video files. It’s quite fast.
Filebot might help index those old files.
