Android loves mice and keyboards. A lot of games now support gamepad pretty well too.

I’ve been gaming on my phone using parsec to remote steam and bring the controls back to my gamepad.

It sucked when Crashplan’s home client went under. If you installed the client on two computers with internet access, it would let you set the remote computer as a target. Encryption was done at the source, it had dedupe, versioning. It ate a little ram but it was really nice.

Yep, I tried Tailscale at home… 3 weeks later I started using it at work, so insanely easy.

Test out that Nix, Mine refused to let me install from it when I just shoved their iso in Ventoy.

Someone got a hackintosh running from ventoy on specific hardware

Unifi gear is super great value-wise. Their support is lacking, but their equipment is pretty easy to deal with.

UCG is great and cheap.

UDM Pro is more flexible / future proof but also more expensive. (you get POE, and access to the rest of their suite, but that access also comes with some hardware lockin)

They don’t do custom DNS, so a couple of PIE holes or a DNS service are prudent.

One of the few things that Mac kind of got right. Every application is actually a deep tree with all kinds of crap all over the place but they never let the user see that.

They’re not long about matrix docs though. I tried to set it up a few years ago and it was irritating enough that I never got through it.

Private trackers run ratios to make sure that content stays available. Well you can find most of what you want on public trackers there are always a few things here and there that are much easier to find in private.

Security-wise I don’t really think there’s much of a difference. Private trackers get infiltrated and shut down they’re just much smaller when it happens so you don’t hear about as much.

Private trackers just lessen the surface area. When the companies decide to lobby enough to change the laws you’ll need to hide with private as well.

But if your library supports OD, go dig up the old PC app for OD. When you download the book to start listening to it it decrypts it as it throws it onto the drive.

Some books seem to have some weird duplicated audio here and there is a coffee protection method. Like there’s some secret M3U somewhere that skips around when it plays it, but most stuff comes out clean.

If you can’t get it to come out with the app use one of the virtual audio cable style applications wire the output into a line-in for audacity and just rerecord the whole thing compress it down. You lose individual chapters as files I don’t really pay attention to the chapters I’m on I care about the total distance to the book and being able to pick up where I left off. I suppose if you were trying to do some kind of hybrid read and listen back and forth it would be more useful to have the chapter numbers.

If I unlock my door, it will re-lock in 15 minutes as long as the door is shut. opening the door resets the timer.

I have a sensor in my kindergartner’s bag that lets me know when he gets to school and when he leaves school, also via telegram message.

If someone loiters around my driveway for more than 30 seconds, I get a telegram message with an image.

I haven’t said it back up since I moved but I used to have one that used a combo sensor my washer and dryer doors. If the sensor moved enough for long enough it set a flag that the unit was running. If it want from running to not running for a long enough period of time, and the contact sensor wasn’t tripped, I would receive alerts every 30 minutes or so that the clothes were done and still in the washer/dryer.

Even something as simple as water sensors under the sink if saved my ass. Cabinetry these days is made out of fiberboard and if it stays wet for more than a couple of hours it does horrible things.
