No. I sent it for RMA 9 months out of warranty on May 8th, and I won’t be getting it back until June 10. Apparently my firmware got corrupted. The software went bad. Valve is a software company and the software went bad. $120 USD to reprogram the firmware incl shipping, but I’ll likely also have to pay import fees on top of that.

If I had it then I would play it more, yeah, but at the same time I’ve bought other SBCs since then and I have been playing those as they are more portable and I’ve really missed portable game emulation since I’ve been without my Steam Deck.

That’s why I’m always interested in self-hosting. I have my own Plex and Jellyfin seedbox server for the private trackers I’m in, with a VPS hosting an OpenVPN to make it look like I’m in a different country, just to make it that much safer. It works damn well.

If someone pirated the music that I spent hours working on in the space I paid rent for, I am absolutely losing a sale that could really have helped me out and, with enough of them, even let us maybe do it full time.

Do you know that though? Is someone going to buy a song just to listen to it? There’s no guarantee that they would have bought it in the first place. Also, piracy literally can increase the exposure to your music and can lead to measurably increased sales. My Windows friends and even normie friends are using Steam Deck with SteamOS just fine. You don’t have to be a Linux expert to use SteamOS.

This is a fantastic update. You can public your CSGO and TF2 stats without having to publish any anime games etc that you might have.

You catch more bees with honey than vinegar. Smart developers treat all their users well and then they get the same treatment in return. It’s the smartest way to do things.

This has actually always been my reason for piracy. I’ve always been able to afford games, thankfully, so I’ve used piracy as a means of demoing games as demos became more and more rare and more commonly and more importantly I’ve used piracy as a means of preserving games. I have no problems paying for a game if I can also keep it indefinitely and play it forever, and thanks to piracy that is actually possible.

I dunno why people wouldn’t believe that launchers etc can break on Linux through wine/proton etc, this is something that happens somewhat commonly tbh.
