Transcoding sound like it might be that as I had recently setup Nvidia GPU and enabled hardware transcoding but when I was testing and watching something it didn’t transcode as I was watching in the format I had.

Same. We even had a music store in the UK, called Music Zone, this place would let you buy a CD and if you didn’t like it you could return it and get a refund and then rinse and repeat.

As for parents. Mine had no clue what I was doing on the computer, but even when they learned due to all the people coming to the door, they were pretty chill.

It got bad when our ISP would charge us for excessive downloads.

I’m looking to get back into piracy and have been saving to build a server to handle it. I’m now hearing about these seed boxes in the cloud.

So my question is this a viable option until I build a server. Like I can set up torrents and maybe Radarr, etc. then just use my home pc for Jellyfin and connect it to the seed box? Or is the seed box mainly used to do the torrenting before you STFP the files to your actual server?

This is useful as I didn’t really know what “transcoding videos” meant and why I might need to be concerned with it.

I now know that it the process of converting a video from its original format, resolution, or bitrate. And that this can be important if one of my friends is using a device that say isn’t 4K compatible and all my content is 4K.

I know you probably already know this, but I thought I would add for others that may stumble across this.
