Try NixOS. It eliminates that ISO centric paradigm and trades it for one config file that defines everything and builds it from scratch.
Plutus, Haskell, Nix, Purescript, Swift/Kotlin. laser-focused on FP: formality, purity, and totality; repulsed by pragmatic, unsafe, “move fast and break things” approaches

Holy shit! This is awesome. I’ve been looking for something like this for YEARS!

Yes. He also helped create RSS which is basically where content needs to be moving. He had exactly the same principles in mind as Lemmy/Mastodon creators and would have been a vocal opponent of what Reddit became. I mean, perhaps he could have eventually been corrupted, but judging by his record of hacktivism, he probably would have become a “problem” for the powers that seek to control/centralize, advertise to, and study our browsing habits.
Aaron would be appalled at the state of the world of today if he, like so many brave, selfless defenders of human rights, hadn’t been murdered by the capitalist cadres of yesterday.
I just stole someone else’s config that was shared as a neovim flake which I don’t customize at all because I’m scared to open neovim since I can’t seem to close it without googling. 🤣🤣
Additional pro-tip: you can just launch mpv from the terminal using the YouTube url and it will open a new player.
To each their own. I run a NAS as the main source of data in my network and the files are encoded as h.265 2160p 10bit. I don’t need another transcode step because my systems are all capable of decoding h.265 10bit in real time. To force my NAS to do another transcode would be stupid, IMO.
I’ll cast my vote: Kodi is far superior to Plex. People are just too lazy to learn something. I have a library larger than Netflix and Kodi makes browsing it very simple.

I build, configure, and deploy them with nix flakes for maximum reproducibility. It’s the way you should be doing it for archival purposes. With this tech, you can rebuild any docker image identically to today’s in 100 years.

and here’s a link to a blog post, showing how to create a docker image and rust dev environment.

I’d definitely be interested.
I did something like this a while back when I attempted to create an official Cardano dev/Stake Pool operator machine. I ended up realizing that a whole config is too personal to try an standardize but parts of my shared configs DID help other Cardano devs and Stake pool operators get a rock-solid Cardano dev/SPO setup that could be cloned into a myraid of different types of machines and configs.
