Interesting. My Steam remote playing from my PC through my house is excellent. I do it to my Steam Link, I used to do it to my phone, and now I also do it to my Steam Deck.

It’s the Playstation-made remote play apps that suck on my PC or my phone.

Both my PC and my PS5 are hardwired the same to the router, and both have all the ports forwarded and blah blah.

Shit yeah, no wishlisting, no ignoring, no gifting. Its pathetic.

At least the original PS3 store was decent for its time, but they ruined that.

Playstation Remote Play is garbage no matter the location or setup. I’ve tried many over many years in multiple houses. Sony is horrible at this.

Chiaki for Steam Deck/PC and PSPlay app for Android are insanely better quality for remote playing Playstation.

Sales on PSN are appalling compared to Steam as well. Plus you can also get Steam sales on other sites like Fanatical.

Steam also has better remote play, and Steam custom controller profiles with nearly any controller are amazing.

Also nearly no backwards compatibility issues, whereas PS5 will only play/stream limited games from the past.

I don’t even do families. One of us just goes into offline mode for the time. Slightly obnoxious.

What if they might make a Steam Deck 3? Better skip the 2nd one as well.

I do this with massive open Ubisoft worlds like Ghost Recon and Far Cry. In-between missions and story stuff is far too much crap to clear out and do, if you like covering every square inch.

Just turn off Decky Recorder before shutting down, restarting, or switching to desktop mode. Works for me every time.

Turn off the Replay Mode toggle.

I also don’t have many issues with Music Control.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion. Always wanted to play it but never really stuck to it every time I started. It’s awesome on the Deck. Handheld gaming is the best.

Even with native support, some games have idiotic controls and no remapping. Steams custom controller profiles give me a chance to remedy this.

Got the original not long after launch. Upgraded to OLED right around when it launched. I have some times when I don’t play it, but not often. Recently I have even been playing some RTS games since I got the controls working fairly effectively. Some of the fun for me with the Deck is customizing the controls to make a game work that otherwise wouldn’t. The Steam controller settings are in my opinion probably the most important feature that makes this work so well.

Many games I used to play on my Playstation I am now instead playing them natively on Deck. It’s comfortable. I love handheld.

The game I’ve played most overall is American Truck Simulator. Also Vampite Survivor, tons of Emulation Station, Metal Gear Solid master collecetion, and more recently Halo MCC, and Warhammer games like Dawn of War 1, Space Marine, and Inquisitor.

Apparently I played over 75 hours in May. PlayTime Decky plugin.

In addition to battery life, colors, and screen size that others have mentioned, I think the weight reduction on OLED when I upgraded was actually the biggest thing that shocked me.

It’s not immensely different, but if you use it daily, it’s lighter enough than the original model to make a noticeable difference and just makes playing so much more comfortable, especially for longer periods.

I would not have expected the weight reduction to be this big a deal, but it really is for me.
