Azure stuff (like az CLI tool) is generally available on Linux, I used it to provision services using Terraform. Things like .NET or MSSQL all have official support on Linux now.

You may want to check how to launch the launcher and tell it to automatically start the game with some launch arguments. This is usually possible because on Windows they create desktop shortcuts to the game anyway that start it through the launcher. You might then want to add more non-steam game entries that launch the launcher and the game. This is how Lutris does that for Epic games running through the actual EGS launcher.
A month or two ago. I saw notes in changelog that supposedly it should be fixed, but it kept happening. I might revisit in the future
Yes but I experienced periodical logouts from Epic sadly
Here’s what works for me: I run Lutris (flatpak), pick up Epic Games on the left panel, proceed with login in Lutris. Once logged in, I pick up a game and hit install. When running for the first time it will install EGS. Proceed with the installation, launch and login in the EGS if it’s first launch. Install the game choosen in Lutris in EGS, then close EGS and Lutris should figure out that the game is now installed. You can test it from there, but you can now add your games to Steam from Lutris by right-clicking them. If adding games from Lutris doesn’t work, it might be problem with Flatpak permissions. I use Flatseal (available on Flathub just like Lutris) to edit them. Lutris must be able to write in ./local/share/Steam
and if I remember correctly by default the path was added, but with the :ro
flag that I deleted.
Dear Valve, stop telling me what to do. And no, I won’t wear a hat on a windy day either
From the issues that I encountered:
plasmashel has some artifacts leaving traces after cursor move when blur is enabled (as default)
plasmashell sometimes freezes
Weird frame sync glitches (past frames cross with more recent ones). happens on any compositor when framerate goes below refresh rate
Yes, I tested it. Some issues were fixed, but it’s far from being complete
Not going to happen until NVIDIA proprietary drivers work well in Wayland
They’re pretty clear on that: nope. Maaaybe some 3rd party will come up with something
Deck is great value, and as a general purpose PC it’s more than capable, but the main focus should be on how are you going to use it. Laptop has the benefit of being one piece thing that you can grab on a public transportation or any other place and you get access to your usual PC stuff with full blown keyboard. If you need to finish your essay before arrival, you can do so. However, if you want a laptop to game on, it will be either chunky (which defeats the portability argument) or expensive. Also, while having Deck, you can still access your notes, scans, books etc everywhere from the comfort of Deck’s gamepad.
SteamOS 3.5 when?
I like how Valve not only pushed Linux gaming, but also introduced some people to desktop Linux. I see many comments of people realizing It’s not all that scary and sort of useful after all and it can even show some advantages, like the said snapiness. Being realistic I don’t expect the platform to ever go truly mainstream, but enlargement of the niche is very much possible.
Open system monitor and inspect processes tobsee where doest it come from. You can also open terminal and type
ps -aux | grep -i wine
That should yeild some more info including full command line of Wine’s processes.
The pop up however runs always if Wine prefix doesn’t have Mono implementation installed. It can be Steam trying to perform some task while updating a game, but without additional info it’s hard to tell
There were some recent fixes to Steam VR but I have never tried a VR headset myself. It should work on Wayland with a compositor that supports DRM-leasing protocol, so basically everything but GNOME.
