Nah Deseret anything is usually a Mormon thing. The Salvation Army was a different weirdo sex cult.
I guess they don’t realize GOG is DRM free as part of their business model?
Probably because they think DRM=anti pirate and not “You don’t actually own this”
Would that actually violate the guidelines? This was around all the time of the defederation drama, so ages ago in internet time, and I recall looking at the guidelines and thinking “Well this isn’t a bad faith argument, and it’s not technically hateful unless you know where it leads.”
Maybe this is the syndicalist in me talking, but I think the problem is entirely pretending that Lemmy moderators and admins are and should be expected to work for free. It’s just too much work, too much daily upkeep, to reasonably expect to be handled by a volunteer labor force forever.
That’s obviously a whole other drama with FOSS as a whole but there’s simply a different level of labor and difficulty inherent to running a large internet community than making a program and dumping it on a download site.
I’ve seen quotes directly lifted from fascist works upvoted by hundreds on Beehaw. The problem with only-positive user feedback is that as long as it seems like a positive statement that others support people will often grant it further support without thinking about what is actually being said.
Or at least that’s what I hope was happening.
So… They’re happy?
JRR wrote four LotR stories.
Everything else is a fanfiction. Even the Silmarillion. By far the most obnoxious reaction to the show is from “Tolkien purists” who got their entire Tolkien knowledge base from Peter Jackson.
The show is a perfectly Tolkienish story, despite the gratuitous lack of random singing, it’s just not a good one. Like, okay, you need to compress the timeline for the show, fair enough, just do a good job of that.
Wrong Durins to fight both the War of the Rings and the Balrog?
Then don’t tease the fucking Moria Balrog. If you want to use a Balrog, because Balrogs are fucking sweet, there was more than one…
Honestly, the weirdest part of the show is that they’ll follow a lore deep cut with something that could only possibly fool someone that missed the deep cut, but also doesn’t know or care who Gandalf or Isildur is, so what’s the payoff for the reveal?
Like that proves anything, lol, gamers eat shit with a grin every day.
Revisionism so blatant it could run for office in a red state.
My only beef with them is their complete disregard for QA but, in the end, they’re right.
We’ll do it for them.
Well, and watering down the social commentary in their Fallouts to an absurd degree.
Can’t wait for Fallout 5 to say “AKSHUALLY, it was all China’s fault and capitalism is based and Vault Tec was justified. Join the Brotherhood or die, trash.”
Triangle For Enthusiastic Yes Square For Nod Silently
All socialist thought is innately humanist, because collectivism can not work without the assumption that people will at least choose to be good when it’s the easier path, but yes, the idea that because a minority will abuse the system if you let them you must be a conservative is…
Well, not surprising from a rot-brain.
Nah, it’s reasonable enough, dude left the Methodist Church to do his thing.
