I did a full playthrough of Hollow Knight when I got my OLED deck (except some of the extra Godhome challenge stuff). It was gorgeous and got 8-9 hours of play from a full charge. Highly recommended.

I wouldn’t recommend RDR2 here because you need a net connection to launch the game.
One other longshot: You didn’t say what game but if it’s a smaller / indie title you could try reaching out to the devs and saying “Hey you know this would be a ton of fun on a tablet or PC touchscreen”. You never know, maybe they didn’t considere that, but they might agree that it’s a great idea and add it officially.
Chronos’ guide is the most comprehensive one I know but I don’t see anything there about trackpad multi-touch. My impression is that they’re really designed for one thumb each while you hold the Deck. (Side note, the trackpads do accept a surprisingly deep range of pressure input).
How about using the touchscreen? Many sources claim it accepts 10-finger input. Of course the game itself would probably have to support that (common on mobile but rare on PC). Or maybe there’s a plugin somewhere to map specific screen region touches to other input buttons and such.

I have the Jsaux mod case. The grippy texture is great and feels so much better to hold than the plastic of the Deck, especially for long or more intense sessions where my hands might get a little sweaty. It fits perfectly, no gaps or wiggle.
The attachment features on the case are honestly kind of a gimmick (I mainly got it because I wanted the USB Hub) and the kickstand is a bit too heavy (but very sturdy) IMO. I do like the snap-on protective cover though, it’s made well.
The Killswitch is more expensive but would probably provide all the same benefits.
Hollow Knight. It’s gorgeous on the OLED.
Yeah the lighter weight is probably my favorite improvement too. I can enjoy a game quite a bit longer without my hands cramping or feeling tired.
What kind of games do you play?
If it’s mostly lighter colorful indie adventures or emulated classics, the improved battery life at low TDPs is pretty crazy, pushing 8-12 hours. Together with the pretty screen and 90 Hz refresh it’s a big quality bump.
If you mostly play heavy gray AAA competitive shooters, the experience will mostly be the same. The black levels on the screen will be much better and you might get another 30-45 mins of playtime but honestly you’re probably better off saving money toward the Deck 2 when Valve improves the CPU/GPU performance.
RDR2 when I want to get immersed.
Shovel Knight when I want something lighter.
My LE arrived today but it was DOA. Faulty power circuit, never even turned on once :(
It’s peak 1000 nits with HDR. The base full-panel max is 600 nits. Still, it’s a big jump over the 400 on the previous LCD model.
According to LTT, Valve went a bit easier on the battery glue this time. So that will be easier to replace.
However according to Dave2D, the dimensions are slightly bigger so the new 50 Wh battery won’t fit in older Decks.
That’s basically all this is, same as they did for other components like fans and SSDs already.
The new wifi chip might be faster or support more recent standards, but that’s hardly worth even calling it a product refresh.
I’m disappointed the Verge published these claims of “OMG this is a stealth upgrade!!1” with literally no other evidence.
You can sorta do it with a shutdown +90 terminal command (or whatever you estimate the time to be).
If you’re in desktop mode you can schedule a shutdown. But I’m not aware of a way to trigger it based on a finished Steam download queue unfortunately.
Totally agreed, this is one of the most annoying things left about Steam and especially the Deck.
It’s usually not too bad since you can pause downloads. But if the game you want to play has multiple GB of patches to download you could be stuck waiting a while.
The text isn’t too small for Deck? Inventory management is okay too? I love the series but it’s far from the first thing that comes to mind for me on handheld.
