i have been trying to access articles of this website. i have tried ‘bypass paywall clean’ plugin and other solutions i could find (ublock zapper, 123ft like websites, CSS of the said webpage, publicly ‘free’ AI models).
I just used Ublock origin. Right clicked the paywall and blocked “##div:nth-of-type(4)” and it let me see the full article
can you tell me how to you did that? i am not able to find ##div:nth-of-type(4) from ublock i can see ##div:nth-of-type(5) and i dont know how to block it ? clicking the ‘X’ (close ) sign?
Huh strange mine now shows ##div:nth-of-type(5)
If you look below the text box there should be three options:
Pick: allows you to select a region
Preview: toggles the filter so you can see how it looks
Create: Sets the filter which is what you’ll need after you’ve selected ##div:nth-of-type(5)
Hope that helps C: Alternatively read mode on Firefox gets past it too c;
this time i did exactly as you said but issue persists. i guess i have to read more on these kinda paywalls.
Sticking the URL into archive.org seems to work.
it is true for some articles but not for the ones which havent been archived by subscribers. and a lot of them havent been.
Turn off JavaScript, it stops the banner from loading. This works for most of these sites.
This can be done per-site using uBlock Origin, as well:
- Click op UBO so it opens the pop up as shown below
- Click on the JavaScript button on the right, so a red cross appears over it as shown below
- Click on the reload-button that shows up above it.
This works both on desktop browsers as well as on Firefox/Fennec on Android
followed your instructions banner doesnt load and entire article doesnt, either. it just hides the banner.
What is the pricing model? I never got a nag screen just looking around.
Edit: It cuts off the bottom, I see it now.

I wasn’t able to get this article, unfortunately. I really tried. But you can get many free articles by this author that cover this topic here: https://muckrack.com/ashoka-mody/articles
And they’re more up to date. I’ve never really used this site tbh, but the links forward you to articles that don’t have paywalls, from the few I’ve tested.
thanks wasnt aware of this website. it opens up the original websites. a lot of them are not paywalled.
Have you tried https://byebyepaywall.com/?
the archived articles work. not all of them are archived especially new ones. sites like 12ft arent able to bypass.
